Twenty-nine contestants will compete this week for the title of “Miss Louisiana!” Organizers officially kicked off pageant week this morning with a news conference at the Monroe Civic Center. That’s where the pageant's executive director introduced the young ladies who are vying for the title of Miss Louisiana. The contenders will be judged through interview, talent, swimsuit and evening gown competitions. "All the contestants have competed throughout the year for a total of $1.2 million. Every contestant here will leave with scholarship dollars,” said Miss Louisiana Executive Director Dewana Little. Preliminaries start this Thursday and last until the final top ten announcement on Saturday night. Then a new state representative will be crowned.
