A man accused of stabbing a man to death and leaving his body in Swartz near the woods is on trial this week. The man was found murdered a year ago. Both attorneys spent most of the day today selecting a jury. Thirty-two potential jury members were questioned by attorney from Jason Davis and the state. Only 12 members plus two alternates will actually hear the Davis trial. According to Ouachita Parish Deputies 24 year-old Jason Davis stabbed 66 year-old Joe Jones last year in Swartz. They say Davis then dumped Jones' body in woods near Clean Gene’s Car Wash. Deputies began the investigation when they found Jones’ bloody truck at the car wash. Jones' body was later found. In an affidavit, Davis said he had gotten into a fight with Jones at the car wash but then left. Deputies say Jones was also missing over $200 that was later found in Davis’ possession. Davis is charged with second degree murder, but it's up to the state to prove Davis' guilt. The attorneys hope to have the full jury selected to start opening statements tomorrow afternoon. If not, 16 more new potential jury members could be in court to be questioned for the trial.
