A jury was selected this afternoon to hear the Jason Davis murder trial starting this week. Opening statements are set for tomorrow afternoon. Last June Ouachita Parish Deputies say 24 year-old Jason Davis stabbed 66 year-old Joe Jones near a Swartz car wash. Today the court questioned 32 people in order to form the jury for the murder trial. Both attorneys asked the jury questions about their background including how they would react if their life was threatened. They were even asked how they felt about inter-racial relationships. Jason Davis will be tried for second degree murder. Deputies say after Davis stabbed Jones; he dumped Jones' body in woods near Clean Gene’s Car Wash. Deputies began the investigation when they found Jones’ bloody truck at the car wash. Jones' body was later found. In an arrest affidavit, Davis said he had gotten into a fight with Jones at the car wash but then left. Deputies say Jones was also missing over $200 that was later found in Davis’ possession. Davis is charged with second degree murder, but it's up to the state to prove Davis' guilt. All that starts tomorrow.
