Two Monroe City Councilmen Indicted

Monroe City Councilmen Arthur Gilmore and Robert Stevens were indicted by a federal grand jury. According to the indictment, Gilmore and Stevens were taking bribes from individuals and organizations that had business before the city council. The bribes included around $7,700 in cash and other items of value as well as land.
If convicted both face up to 40 years in jail and a $500,000 fine. Stay tuned for more on the breaking news story.
