Monroe Mayor Statement Regarding Indictments

Mayor Jamie Mayo has released the following statement.

In response to the indictment charges against Monroe City Councilman Robert "Red" Stevens and Monroe City Councilman Arthur Gilmore, Jr. released today by the Western District of the United States District Court--Mayor Jamie Mayo comments, "This is a very disappointing day. During the past two decades, both Councilmen Gilmore and Stevens have been a part of many successful efforts that have helped our city become more financial sound, economically stable, and positioned for long-term growth. We have had a chance to review the indictments and we are shocked at the accusations. We must now allow the judicial process to take its course."
