It’s that time of year again, peaches are ripe for picking! It is not a secret that Ruston peaches can draw a crowd. Mitcham’s Peach Farm in Ruston has been in business since 1946, and they’ve seen people drive in from as far away as Oklahoma for their famous peaches. Owner and operator Joe Mitcham says he always has people making the drive for the peaches, but because of the 60th annual Squire Creek Peach Festival there has been a line out the door for the famous produce for days. Not only are people in search for the perfect peach. They are also looking for the infamous peach ice cream. Mitcham has been making peach ice cream for years in his shop. He uses peaches straight from his orchard and purees them to make the cool treat. The peach festival will last through Sunday with several events scheduled daily.
