The Louisiana Purchase Gardens and Zoo will be the temporary home for a pair of oil-rescued Diamond-Back Terrapin turtles. They are in route now to the zoo and should arrive by Friday morning. The animals will not arrive covered in oil and will be temporally rehabbed until they can return home to the marshlands. Zoo Director, Joe Clawson explains, “They’ve got the oil off and make sure that they aren’t hurt by the oil and now they’re gong to send them to us to complete the rehab but also to hold them until they can be returned to the wild.” Eventually the turtles will go on exhibit.
