Killed Soldier From Ouachita Parish Will Be Remembered

Folks are paying their respect to a former Ouachita High student who was killed in Iraq last week. Visitation for Bryant Haynes is tonight from 6 to 8 at Smith Funeral home on Winnsboro Road in Monroe. The Department of Defense confirmed Haynes died in a vehicle roll-over while supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. The 21-year-old Haynes was serving with his National Guard unit from Alexandria. Haynes played football and basketball for Ouachita before leaving to serve during the 2007-2008 school year. Haynes’ funeral is tomorrow afternoon at two at the Mount Zion Baptist Church in Monroe and he will be laid to rest at Richwood Memorial Gardens.
