The Louisiana Purchase Gardens and Zoo is welcoming two rescue animals from the Gulf of Mexico. A pair of Diamond-Back Terrapin turtles arrived at the zoo early this morning. Wildlife and Fisheries officials found the pair in the marshes of south Louisiana. The two turtles were covered in oil. Officials cleaned and disinfected the turtles before transporting them to the zoo. Keepers will keep the pair at the zoo until the oil spill disaster is resolved. Eventually the tough turtles will go on exhibit for zoo visitors to see.
