A complaint. objecting to the qualifications of Stephanie Smith in the Monroe School board race has been filed in 4th district court. Smith represents District 6, and the complaint was made by another District 6 candidate, Verbon Muhammad. Muhammad is challenging whether Smith actually lives in the District she represents. In a court petition, Muhammad claims Smith owns a house on South 6th St. which is actually in District 6. But he says she owns another house out of the district and that’s the house Smith primarily resides in. Muhammad cites that any candidate must actually primarily reside in the home from the area a candidate represents. It was filed this afternoon by Assistant District Attorney Neal Johnson. The case is set to go before judge Fred Amman, Monday at 9:30 a.m.
