Nekita Harris spent the day scoping out stores and making her game plan for a weekend full of tax less, shopping. Harris said, "it helps a lot, because a lot of us have low budgets and stuff, have a lot of kids, kids are expensive, we are expensive." Starting at 12:01 on Friday, shoppers are exempt from paying a four percent local sales tax on all retail purchases under twenty-five hundred dollars. But it's not just customers who are cashing in, stores across the twin-cities are slashing prices, hoping to bring in lots of people, looking to spend lots of money. Warren Bowen with Academy Sports & Outdoor said, "it will be crazy, wall to wall people in here, grabbing everything, trying to make sure kids are prepared for school." But not everyone is on board; Caity Brown says she'll probably just stay home. "I would probably spend more just because people think I’m not going to spend any on taxes so I get more than what I usually get so people will probably spend more." Bowen said, "we draw a lot of people from Arkansas , El Dorado , Crossett, everybody will come down here, give them opportunity to get items and also save money, in addition they will eat here, buy gas, big plus for our area."
