OPSO Investigating Standifer Avenue Stabbing

An argument between two men breaks out into a brutal stabbing that’s now under investigation by the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office.

 

Authorities say the man who’s responsible for stanning 48-year-old Gerald Griffin is now on the run from the law.

 

Sheriff’s cruisers surrounded the corner of Standifer Avenue at Reddix Lane near the Gold Mart. Just before 8 p.m., officials say the victim, Griffin, was verbally fighting with a man he knew on Standifer Avenue.

 

A deputy supervisor says the argument turned violent, and Griffin got stabbed in the stomach once.

 

"One of them got cut and asked to use my telephone to call the police. I let them use the phone. (Griffin) seen the guy leaving, and chased him down to stop him. He had a bag covering his cut. Looked like a stab wound,” said Martin DeBurr, a witness.

 

Deputies say the man linked to the stabbing has not been arrested, and they need your help putting him in jail.

 

Officials released a description of the man linked to the stabbing: He’s a black man who’s about 6 foot, one inches and weighs 160 pounds.

 

Griffin is at E.A. Conway, with non-life threatening injuries, according to sheriff’s officials, who say the victim was alert and speaking.
