Residents in Grambling who are outraged over the mayor spending thousands of dollars on a city website brought that anger to the council meeting tonight.

The council voted to sue the woman, Sheree Rabon, who created the town’s controversial $7,760 website.

The town’s website is at www.cityofgrambling.org and has two items: a description of Juneteenth and Mayor Martha Andrus’ website.

At tonight’s council meeting, Grambling attorney Pam Breedlove went before the council and said they officially determined that $7,760 was inappropriately spent by the mayor, to pay web developer Sheree Rabon for a city website.

Breedlove said there was a possibility that the town may not be able to collect the money back if they sued the developer, and it may end up costing the town more money to pursue the lawsuit.

But Grambling residents spoke out against the mayor and demanded a lawsuit move forward, saying they were tired of hearing Mayor Andrus wasting the town’s money.

“If she can’t pay it, she can go to jail,” said one resident.

“Do we just sit and do nothing? If we don’t indicate that we’ve had enough, then people will continue to what they want to do. It doesn’t make sense,” said resident E. Jones.

If you’re wondering if any responsibility falls on Martha Andrus, the town attorney says they’re required by law to report the misuse of taxpayer money.

The district attorney of Lincoln Parish, the legislative auditor, and the attorney general have been notified, and could pursue charges against Mayor Andrus.
