Ruston Police Officer Shot in Line of Duty

At about 1:20 AM, Corporal Canty responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle on the lot of the Ambrose Automotive on the South Service Road in Ruston.
A suspect opened fire on Corporal Canty, striking him several times. The suspect then fled the scene in a blue SUV, possible a Dodge Durango.
Corporal Canty was able to call for help and within minutes, was transported to the Northern Louisiana Medical Center for treatment. He was then airlifted to LSU Hospital in Shreveport where he underwent emergency surgery.
