If your child is struggling with their homework, the answers may be just a few clicks away.

When Louisiana students need help with reading, writing, and arithmetic, all they have to do is surf the web.

Homework Louisiana is a free online tutoring service designed to help students get ahead in the classroom, and it’s not just for students in grades k-12.

"It's being marketed for Louisiana residents so college students and non traditional students can use it as well,” says Stephanie Wilkes, young adult coordinator for the Ouachita Parish Public Library.

Certified teachers and college professors are available in subjects including math, science, english, social studies, and can even help prepare for standardized tests. Just as a precaution, tutors go through background checks and no personal information is exchanged between the student and tutor.

"It's 100% safe and certified," Stephanie tells NBC 10 News.

Tutoring can cost between $35 and $50 for a one hour session. But a 9 million dollar grant makes Homework Louisiana, 100% free for students of all ages. On top of being free and safe for students to use, the site is user friendly and provides students and tutors all the tools they need to complete their assignments.

"There's a white board so you can draw up your math problems. The interactive white board also pulls up webpages and you can even share documents," said Stephanie.

It's just another way to help Louisiana students head to the top of the class.
