News that mayor Martha Andrus filed chapter 7 bankruptcy traveled fast.

Aaron McCarthy is a concerned citizen and he said, "It's just a terrible situation"

And that has some residents like Joseph Handy up set.

Joseph Handy said,  "I think that's bad."

According to this document from the United States bankruptcy court, Martha Andrus is more than 185 thousand dollars in  debt.  Around 76 thousand of those dollars are credit card debt.  That has some people asking the question, can Martha Andrus effectively  run the town?

Aaron McCarthy doesn't think so.

He said, "She can't run a town if she can't handle her own business, her own finances."

But, there's more.  This bankruptcy document lists 9 lawsuits involving the mayor.  If the court relieves her of her debt, according to a bankruptcy attorney that means the mayor won't owe anyone anything.
