4-H kids are usually the ones being recognized for their achievements. But a local 4-H volunteer is in the national spot light for her 57 years of service in the program.
Ann Keene has been apart of 4-H since 1953. She started in the seventh grade, and now that she is a volunteer in the organization she has gained national recognition, and it's sending her all the way to the 4-H hall of fame. Keene is one of 16 people in the country and the only one in Louisiana being inducted. Although she loved her time as a member, she says it's her volunteer work that is most important to her.
"I’m not sure that I’ve had an impact on the lives of young people. I think they've had an impact on me more, and I encourage everyone to volunteer," says Keene.
Ann Keene will travel to Washington D.C. in October to accept her award.
