12 year old Machaela Donaldson was having open-heart surgery just two weeks ago. On Wednesday, a healthy Machaela was with high spirits along with other patients at the Terry D. King Medical Office.
The governor's wife, first lady Supriya Jindal stopped by the office in the twin cities to pay a visit to pediatric patients with heart problems.
"It says we love your heart and on the back it says, Louisiana loves you," said Supriya Jindal.
Children with heart problems is an important topic for Jindal, and the event was one way for her to show her support
"Our middle son Shawn was 3 months old when he had his first heart surgery," the first lady told NBC 10 News.
The event was a joint success between first lady Jindal and the staff at Dr. Terry King Medical Office that proved to be fun for all.
Jindal's visit wasn't the only highlight for these kids. She surprised everyone with Build-A-Bears and a surprise guest, Bearemy the Build-A-Bear mascot.
"It was a golden opportunity for all of us and the kids loved it as you saw on their faces today. It was wonderful,” said Dr. Terry King.
