The competition was stacking up at The Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana. Over 2600 pounds of food were donated in all. The teams lined up at the food bank to unload all of the food on Friday. Each team was a different department from the city. They went head-to-head to see who can gather up the most canned goods.
Although the winners of the contest will receive coveted bragging rights for the next year, participants say the people receiving the food are the real winners.
“Everyone is excited to see who won and more importantly to see how much of an impact we can have on those in need," says city official Rod Washington.
Monroe Public Works took home the top prize collecting almost 1300 pounds.
