Less than a week after Ed Harris, the former Mayor of Richwood was convicted of malfeasance in office, he resigns as alderman.
Current Mayor Steve Hunter says he received Harris' resignation as alderman this week.
Just weeks ago, the town voted for Harris to serve on the town council, but just last weekend, he was found guilty of draining the towns bank account, before he left office.
Mayor Hunter says Harris has also submitted his letter of resignation to the Secretary of State's office.
Officials say the seat cannot be filled until the state declares it vacant.
