Volunteers sold books on Saturday in Monroe to benefit local children and libraries. A group called "Friends of the Library" hosted the event.
They sold books for children, movies, and audio tapes. Local teachers and children took advantage of the sale, loading up on reading materials, getting four books for just a dollar. Movies were on sale for just 50 cents.
Proceeds of the event went to the Ouachita Parish Libraries. Marianne Jones, President of the Friends of the Library Program said, "We have grants that the friends of the library sponsor. These libraries apply for them and we try to help them do programming and events."
The group "Friends of the Library" also have a monthly book sale at the West Ouachita Library.
