Youll find an overwhelming amount of political signs across Northeast Louisiana...for one presidental hopeful...Ron Paul. He is not a candidate covered much in the media, so why do Ark-La-Miss supporters stand behind him?
Supporters say it is their belief in Ron Pauls ideas that make all their efforts, rallies, and sign waving worth while. Lisa Cripps, a Ron Paul supporter and Republican delegate, said, "We really believe in what were doing and we believe in Ron Pauls message."
According to his Web site that message is about returning America to the constitution, a smaller federal government, returning power to states and lower taxes. One of his more controversial ideas is to do away with income tax.
Skip Caissie, a Ron Paul supporter and Republican delegate, said, "Some people say how can you run a country without income tax? But the interest on the debt is what the income tax, the amount of money that is collected, pays."
Caissie and Crips agree that Paul could get the country out of that debt. They also said they hail Paul as a man who sticks to his principles.
"So many politicans, theyll say one thing, then do something else and you can look at everything Ron Paul says, and you can look at his voting record and it matches, basically, perfectly," Cripps said.
When Bill Clinton came to Monroe, Paul supporters were passing out information
to that crowd of onlookers. "Even if Ron Paul doesnt win this election, that doesnt mean these ideas just go away."
Dr. Pauls supporters say they are not worried about his double race in Texas, one for his Congressional seat and the other for President. They said they dont see that as Paul dropping out of the Presidental race.
