Gingrich Visits Northeast Louisiana

The focus in the race for the GOP nomination has turned to Louisiana as Election Day nears.
On Tuesday candidate Newt Gingrich visited Monroe and surrounding communities.
First he stopped at Louisiana Tech in Ruston. Hundreds of students and folks from the community gathered to hear Gingrich's message and find their own answers.
Gingrich focuses on the economy, employment, and energy, three 'E's that go hand-in-hand according to his $2.50-gallon-of-gas plan. But the point he wanted the Bulldog crowd to remember, is he believes he's the best candidate to take on the incumbent.
"You want somebody who can get inside Obama's defenses and make him answer our attacks, because I'll tell you if we're answering his attacks, we're going to lose the race," says Gingrich.
Later at The Atrium Hotel in Monroe, the former Speaker of the House spoke before a much more energetic audience. Often interrupted with applause and appealing to the Christian values many hold dear in this area.
"The administration has now put out a new policy. It says in national security, we will treat as sacred those items other people consider sacred. To which my answer is 'fine, does that mean we are going to put crosses back up? Because those are sacred. Does that mean we are going to put the ten commandments back up? Because that is sacred," says Gingrich.
And with just days left before voters head to the poles, Gingrich hopes his drilling in Louisiana will strike delegates toward the nomination.
Rick Santorum also plans to visit Northeast Louisiana. He will be in the area Friday.
