Updated: January 31, 2013
WASHINGTON, D.C. - House Appropriations Chairman Hal Rogers today announced that U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander, R-Quitman, will retain his spot as Vice Chairman of Labor, Health, and Human Services (LHHS) Subcommittee for the 113th Congress.

As Vice Chairman of this Appropriations Subcommittee, which oversees funding for the Department of Education, the Department of Health and Human Services, the Food and Drug Administration and the Department of Labor, Alexander will work to secure financial support for initiatives essential to the lives of every person.

"As many hard-working individuals continue to struggle during these tough economic times, Congress must make tough decisions in the days ahead. This assignment gives me an avenue to directly influence key issues affecting people on a daily basis, such as job creation and security, access to quality health care and ample education opportunities," Alexander said.

In December, Alexander was also named Chairman of the Legislative Branch Subcommittee for the new Congress.

"I am grateful that my colleagues put their trust in me as well as the entire Appropriations Committee to continue the difficult work of cutting spending and shaping responsible federal budgets. It is an honor to serve my district, my state and my country in these capacities."

U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander, R-Quitman, represents Louisiana's 5th Congressional District and serves on the House Appropriations Committee.
