BATON ROUGE - On Sunday afternoon south of downtown Baton Rouge, Louisiana State Police vehicles assigned to the Governor's Mansion were involved in a crash when a "box" rental truck made an illegal U-turn in front of the unmarked police cars.

The crash occurred at approximately 5 p.m. on La Highway 30 (Nicholson Dr.) south of downtown Baton Rouge. Two State Police SUVs were northbound on La Highway 30 in the inside lane when a "box" rental truck made an illegal U-turn from the outside lane. The truck side swiped the first SUV which was carrying Governor Bobby Jindal and a Trooper. The second SUV operated by a Trooper took evasive action and struck a utility pole.

The Trooper in the second SUV received minor injuries. There were no other injuries in the crash.

A Supervisor from Troop A (Baton Rouge) is investigating the crash which is departmental policy in all fleet crashes. Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Baton Rouge City Police.

The driver of the truck was cited for Improper Turn.
